I’ve lived all over the U.S. but I grew up in Caledonia. I have a masters in Experimental Choreography and am applying to a PhD program. I’m a professional dancer and would say it is definitely my “passion.” I’m a published dance writer and Photographer too. I have one rescue dog, Thor who is my BFF! I love being outside and being around the water. I also love hiking, kayaking, swimming, tennis and volleyball. I love to travel and take advantage of it every chance I get. I have been teaching Piyo, Insanity, also boxing and tabata based classes at Blast for about a year and a half. I love watching peoples body change. I really get excited when clients crush their goals and have to make new ones!
Blast feels like a family and that everyone is so supportive.
I am the curriculum supervisor at Rushmore Academy where I’ve worked for 7 years. I’ve been married to my husband Books for almost 2 years (which is why I started at Blast to get in shape for my wedding) I’m expecting my first child in the beginning of November. I like to go out with friends and hang with my little dog Toby and I am also obsessed with shopping. I’ve have been teaching step, pound, kettlebell, cycling, kickboxing, Zumba and Zumba toning at Blast for about 2 years. My favorite part about teaching is seeing everyone’s progress through weeks of class – using more weight, less breaks, losing inches, etc. Consistency is key. Working out is easy once you get into it and find something you enjoy doing. Making it routine in your life is key. I like to remind myself and clients, “Nothing tastes as good as being “fit” feels”
I live here in Marion and I am married and also have a step son who keeps me very active. I enjoy pretty much all sports, especially weight training and running. I was an instructor with the YMCA on and off for the last few years. I have taught Pilates, strength training, kickboxing and a beginners to a 5k running class. I enjoy helping people obtain their fitness goals and hope to get my certification as a personal trainer in the near future.
I have participated and/or taught step aerobics since the early 90's. I enjoy teaching step because it is a good allover body workout, helps with coordination and is great for your cardio health!! I love group fitness exercise, it always helps to know that you are not alone!! I do my best to keep the classes fun by using popular, up-to-date music, keeping the moves basic but challenging, and having a laugh to make the time go fast!
I also occasionally run and have been in several Marion 5k's over the years.
I am married to Tim Meade. I have two teen-aged daughters, Abi and Gretchen Dunaway.
I'm excited to be teaching step again, along with the other classes I instruct and look forward to many fun classes at Blast Fitness!!
Within the last couple years is when I became more interested in getting healthy and in interest of the wellness of my life. Being the father of two young kids has helped me realize that I need to be able to care for myself, to be able to set a good example and keep up with them. I enjoy running, lifting and distance bike riding. I love a challenge and just completed a tough mudder this summer. I am planning on training and completing more in the future. The physical challenge was only half the battle. I now realize the mental challenges that go along with exercise and the push and motivation that is needed. I am looking forward to helping others with the motivation, push and support that is needed while trying to make a life change or just doing what they love while exercising.
I HAVE BEEN IN THE FITNESS INDUSTRY ON AND OFF SINCE I WAS 18 YEARS OLD WHEN I STARTED TEACHING STEP AEROBICS. FITNESS IS A PART OF ME AND HAS MADE ME A HAPPIER HEALTHIER PERSON. I LOVE THE IDEA OF OPENING MY OWN STUDIO AND BEING ABLE TO HELP PEOPLE REACH THEIR OWN GOALS IN LIFE AND IN FITNESS. IF I CAN INSPIRE PEOPLE TO FEEL BETTER ABOUT THEMSELVES HOW COULD I NOT LOVE GOING TO WORK EVERYDAY. MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY AND FEELING BETTER ABOUT THEMSELVES IS AN AMAZING GIFT THAT I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THAT I AM HOPING TO BE ABLE TO DO ON A DAILY BASIS. I PERSONALLY HAVE GOTTEN INTO FITNESS SLUMPS WHERE I DON'T LIKE DOING THE SAME THING EVERYDAY AND HAVE PUT OFF EXERCISING. WITH THIS STUDIO I LOVE THE FACT THAT WE ARE ABLE TO OFFER SUCH A WIDE VARIETY OF DIFFERENT CLASSES AND TIMES FOR SOMEONE TO TRY DIFFERENT THINGS THAT THEY MAY HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO TRY THINK TO TRY OR EVEN DO AND LETTING SOMEONE STRIVE TOWARDS NEW FITNESS LEVELS ASPIRATIONS AND GOALS. IN MY SPARE TIME I LOVE BEING WITH MY FAMILY AND TWO CHILDREN LAINEY 10 AND GREYSON 6. THEY DEFINITELY KEEP ME BUSY. I ALSO ENJOY BEING OUTSIDE IN THE SUN, CANOEING, SHOPPING AND SPENDING TIME WITH FRIENDS.
